    Speakers: Boystown

Herb and Tony came to speak about Boystown.
Tony was born in Detriot to a mother that was on drugs and was a prostitute. Tony and his 2 brothers ended up living with their grandmother. At age 12, Tony lost his grandmother. A local priest found them a home at Boystown.  One brother knew who his biological father was and went to live with him.
Tyrone went on to graduate and spent his career in the army.
Tony graduated Boystown and then UNO  He and his wife became family teachers over 20 years ago. They now have boys of their own plus currently 8 kids in their family home.
The third brother is serving in prison.
Thank you Herb and Tony for the inspiration.

    Speaker: Home Buyer Protection

Pat has owned this company since 1980. This is the first home inspection company in Omaha.

Home inspection protects the buyer and seller from unforeseen issues. The home inspection includes a list of systems in the home to give the buyer and seller knowledge of the property condition.
Radon inspection is a major change to home inspection. A test can be run at anytime but only in a home sale does the seller have to mitigate the radon gas.
Thanks Pat for the interesting information.

    Bell Ringing Schedule

    1. Check out who is before and after your time.
    2. Plan on time to park and walking to the door.
    3. Be at your kettle 10 minutes before your shift.
    4. Greet people – and thank them for their contribution.

    Happy ringing, Kiwanis!

    Omaha Airport Authority

Stan Kathol is the lead accountant at the Omaha Airport Authority (OMA).

Stan brought us up to speed on the OMA Master Plan.

The next expansion is Terminal expansion for $16M.
Airlines have changed their business models to make every flight pay. There has been a 14.2% reduction of flights in the industry the last few years. OMA is considered a Medium Hub.
The entire industry had been down but Omaha is up 3% already this year.
Over the years the Master Plan gives the OMA a phased approach to growth.

As OMA passenger volume grows, revenues grow as well. OMA is not a taxable entity. OMA collects rents and revenue share from the airlines and vendors. There is also money from the government transportation fund.
Thanks Stan for all the interesting information.
