Membership & Recruiting

John reviewed our Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha membership plan for 2014-2015.

Let’s all think “Next Man Up…”
Ideas –
1) Bring a guest – especially with such a strong speaker schedule in April.
2) Talk to guests at every meeting.
3) Attend Kiwanis social functions! Tell your friends, post to Facebook, bring a work associate.
4) Try a “5 at 1:15”. Email 15 people and call 5 people at 1:15 on Friday to invite them to the next Monday meeting.
5) Volunteer to put together a social outing. Vineyard, sporting event, golf outing, ideas welcome …..

Make an April goal of bringing 5 guests in the next 4 weeks!!

Speaker: Mike Kult, Wheelchair Basketball

Para sports is for anyone with orthopedic disabilities. Not necessarily in a wheelchair.
Participants are classified on a scale of 1-3.  The points are added into the score to even the participants.
Para is seperate from Special Olympics. Special Olympics includes mentally disabled so the competition is different.
Their travel budget is $25,000 a year. The special chairs are $1,800 to $1,900 each.
Thanks Mike for the enthusiasm and your dedication.
